WATERFORD CRYSTAL

On the southeast coast of Ireland lies the industrious city of Waterford, known worldwide for its luxury cut crystal goods. Waterford Crystal was established in 1783 by Irishman George Penrose and his nephew William Penrose. They used a unique manufacturing process to produce an extremely fine flint glass that quickly became popular with royalty. It has been used for some of the most famous chandeliers such as in Westminster Abbey, the Kennedy Center in DC and the New Year’s Eve ball in Times Square. Visitors are welcome in the bustling factory in Waterford and are able to see master crafters meticulously cutting vases and trophies on spinning water saws.
