OLD NORTH CHURCH

Paul Revere

With looming British forces making their way to the colonies, the colonists needed to prepare for battle to protect their lands and liberty. On the night of April 18, 1775, the sexton of Boston’s North Church, Robert Newman, signaled the movement of English troops by displaying lanterns in the church’s steeple. This signaled Paul Revere to make his famous ride from Charlestown to Lexington and alert the colonists.

Revolutionists used many forms of signals and codes to relay messages under the prying eye of the crown. While at North Church, you are handed another letter. This time, it’s an actual letter from Revolutionary soldier Samuel Cooper. To earn your next token, you must decipher the letter’s secret passphrase.
